The Fountains of Bellagio : A Little Piece of Europe
from: The heart of the Strip, in Las Vegas is home to one of the America's most ambitious and striking water features; the Fountains of the Bellagio Hotel. With perpetual motion and nightly water shows accompanied by lights and music, the Fountains of Bellagio entertain and charm its visitors into coming back for more. The fountains offer an extremely modernized version of the traditional light and water shows in Europe. The company responsible for designing and maintaining the Fountains of Bellagio is called Wet Design. They specialize in intricately designed light and water shows. The Fountains of Bellagio are actually a series underwater pipes which have in excess of a thousand nozzles. In addition, the fountains have four thousand individual lights which are accompanied with a stunning and state of the art sound system.
There are three type of fountain nozzles used in the show. The first type of nozzles are called oarsmen. This nozzle causes the water to swing back and forth and give the appearance that the water is dancing. The second type of nozzles are called shooters. This type of nozzle makes water shoot straight up in the air and can be adjusted to accommodate any angle. The third type of nozzles are called jets. Jets eject the water at a high rate of speed, blasting 250 feet in the air. Shows occur several times a day and are completely free and open to the public. The display features music ranging from opera to rock, attracting an interesting mixture of people; young and old appreciate the show.
The Bellagio Fountains are located directly in front of the Bellagio Hotel on the famous Las Vegas strip. The fountains themselves are in the center of a 32,000 square foot artificial lake. This hotel was inspired by the exclusive Italian resort at Lake Como. Lake Como is a vacation spot located in the city of Bellagio, Italy. It is known for its lush gardens, elaborate water features, and endless luxury. The Bellagio Hotel is one of the most famous hotels and casinos in Las Vegas.
The Bellagio Fountains are a marvel in modern engineering. These beautiful fountains are hard to miss and allow the visitor to experience a bit of European charm in America.
